"The Traveler" .canto 2

I was never the image of perfection nor did I claim to be
But you place your faith in men, on knowledge
You believed yourself God and rewrote his Book;
Replaced miracles with technology and college.

Aspiring to higher things for you was filling your brain
I am in awe of your glory but even your light is dim
I take my merit from perfection from the one whose name
Shakes the foundations of existence I will join him.

You know his name; his creation calls it out to you
Each day you had to shut you eyes to block it out
And cover your ears, his creation still sings
You can’t stand its call you know what it is about.

So shut your senses to me as is your tradition
I am destined to pass you by but I plead you
Come with me together we will see worlds
Unknown to you or I, we will know what is true”

The phantom wavering in the tumult recoiled
The traveler’s plea was lost to those ears
“How could he love such as these?”
Apparitions vanish, the ghost of fears.

Traveler continues on and by now the sun has set
But the memories of color still grace the skies.
His path is marked by stones at a distance decided
But long since displace from where the former lies.

He struggles hard now to see his feet, pressing on
He gathers as he walks, a torch to light his trail
Happening upon a hill’s crest he begins to hear
The faintest rhythm, the melody is yet still pail.

Growing accustom now to the beat his feet follow
The lead of syncopation, it becomes apparent
This is, as yet, still a dream, his eyes see the sound
As they move the air, its frequency is inherent.

In sight, vision is felt as a heat against the skin
His closed eyes still betray the visions of sound
It is then he is first visited by his sound conscience
In the form of man yet his feet do not touch ground.
